Sustainability In Our Landscapes: Firebreak Management Receives Sustainable Business Achievement
We are thrilled to announce that Firebreak Management has officially earned the Big Sky Sustainable Business Achievement, a recognition that celebrates and promotes Big Sky businesses committed to sustainability.
Our work is about creating healthier, more resilient forest ecosystems
Firebreak Management is a wildfire mitigation and ecological forestry business that helps landowners care for their land for the long term. Their team of 9 blends wildfire resilience, habitat awareness, and practical planning into cohesive solutions. Whether they’re preparing a single residence or managing a multi-acre forest, they help clients understand their land, their risk, and their role, with clear, actionable plans that reflect each landowner’s goals.
For Firebreak Management, leading the way in sustainable forest care is important. Designing wildfire mitigation around the real demands of fire behavior and the natural character of the land helps forests stay healthy, habitat stay intact, and properties stay resilient for our future generations.

Sustainability Action Highlights
What Firebreak Management Is Doing Differently
Donating Wood From Project Sites: Any leftover wood from a job site is sourced out to locals to heat their homes. Know anyone who needs wood? Firebreak Management has plenty.
Fire and Drought Resistant Landscaping: Not only is mitigating a landscape important, but having drought and fire resistant landscaping plays a huge role in preventing wildfires around your home. Firebreak Management not only showcases this around their clients’ homes, but also around their office.
Locally Sourcing Supplies: While many different tools and resources are needed during a job, Firebreak Management locally sources 90% of these supplies to ensure they are supporting locals and minimizing their supplies transportation distance.

Build Better Big Sky Building Pros
Firebreak Management is also proud to be featured on the Build Better Big Sky Building Pro List, a program of Big Sky SNO focused on resilient building. The list serves as a resource for the public by connecting the community with local vendors who are committed to building and restoring with resilience and sustainability in mind.
Sustainability as a Business Advantage
Sustainability for Firebreak Management revolves around the health and longevity of our forest. Not only does Firebreak Management's team implement sustainable practices throughout their business, but their main goal is to work with their clients to incorporate sustainability around their homes.
In their own words
". . . When I first started looking into the Sustainable Business Achievement Program, I realized there were things we could be doing better. Rather than feeling discouraged, I saw an opportunity to learn and improve. One example was our use of single-use plastic water bottles…. I brought the idea of changing that habit to our crew, and they were immediately on board. We switched to reusable bottles and started looking for other ways to reduce waste and make more thoughtful choices.
