Jill Zeilder, owner of Jill Zeilder Ceramic Art, is on a mission to reduce waste through her packaging methods. Jill actively collects used packaging materials from the community. Whether it's packing peanuts, foam, or paper, Jill invites locals to drop off materials she can reuse to safely ship her handcrafted pottery.

Ece Zeyli, the owner of Big Sky Print and Ship, has been serving the community for the past six years. She works hard to reuse every bit of packing material that comes through her shop (boxes, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, plastic, and paper). She also encourages her customers to return used materials so they can be put back into use. 

Step 3: Take the Self-Assessment

Complete the Sustainable Business Achievement Program Self-Assessment.

  • Pay the participation fee ($150 for Big Sky Chamber members, $200 for non-members).*

  • At the end of the Self-Assessment, you will be prompted to schedule a follow-up meeting with the program managers.

*The participation fee covers: Your plaque (if awarded the Achievement), access to tailored resources, promotion in marketing materials, participation in networking events with other local businesses, and personalized support from Big Sky SNO staff to help you reach your goals

Step 4: Next Steps Meeting

Meet with program managers to review your assessment results and determine if you meet the Sustainable Business Achievement criteria, set goals for your business to work on, and receive personalized support from sustainability experts.

If you meet the criteria, you will be awarded the Sustainable Business Achievement

  • You will receive a plaque, stickers, promotion on SNO and Chamber social media and communications, and continued support from our team for attaining the Sustainable Business Achievement.

If you don’t meet the criteria, you can become an Aspiring Sustainable Business by working with staff to identify goals and next steps.

  • As an Aspiring Sustainable Business, you will have access to personalized resources, networking events with other local businesses and will be included in program marketing/communications.

  • The initial fee will cover the cost of resubmitting the Self-Assessment for one year.

STAND OUT AS A SUSTAINABILITY LEADER: Receive recognition at community events, a plaque, and media promotion.

COLLABORATE AND LEARN: Connect with other local business leaders to share ideas and celebrate successes.

ALIGN WITH COMMUNITY GOALS: Support the Big Sky Community Climate Action Plan and Destination Big Sky Strategy.

Getting Started

Step 1: Inquire

Complete the Sustainable Business Achievement Inquiry Form to set up a 15-minute initial meeting with program managers.
