Cornerstone Management Services Receives Sustainable Business Achievement

We are thrilled to announce that Cornerstone Management Services (CMS) has officially earned the Big Sky Sustainable Business Achievement, a recognition that celebrates and promotes Big Sky businesses committed to sustainability.

Redefine Exterior Building Performance

CMS is a Montana-based contractor specializing in the exterior envelope of residential and commercial buildings. Their team of 25 provides sustainable design, construction, and maintenance for our high-alpine environment. Their core specialties are cold-roof framing, custom metal fabrication, waterproofing, and siding.

For Cornerstone Management Services, redefining sustainable building is important. Designing for the demands of mountain weather helps buildings perform better, endure longer, and better respect the place we call home.

Sustainability Action Highlights

What Cornerstone Management Services Is Doing Differently

  1. Rainwater Collection Barrels: Reusing resources is a core value for CMS. That includes an on-site rainwater collection system, which they repurpose for office needs such as washing work vehicles.

  2. Sustainable Building Practices: CMS is committed to advancing building practices that reduce energy consumption, minimize rework and building failures, and cut down on construction waste sent to landfills. Through building practices such as LED lighting, cold roofing, and shingles made out of recycled material, they are working hard to bring efficiency and sustainability into their clients' buildings.

  3. Reusable Cleaning Products: Reducing waste extends beyond CMS’s job sites and is incorporated throughout their office. Reusable rags are used throughout their workspace, cutting down on the unnecessary waste that comes with disposable cleaning supplies.

Build Better Big Sky Building Pros

Cornerstone Management Services is also proud to be featured on the Build Better Big Sky Building Pro List, a program of Big Sky SNO focused on resilient building. The list serves as a resource for the public by connecting the community with local vendors who are committed to building and restoring with resilience and sustainability in mind.

Sustainability as a Business Advantage

Designing and constructing sustainable buildings creates day-to-day efficiencies for CMS in their own office and for their clients. Resilient building can be especially rewarding in a high alpine climate like Big Sky so CMS works closely with clients to implement practices that keep the long-term health of this landscape in mind.

In their own words

". . . We were interested in the Sustainable Business Achievement program . . . to share how we are sustainable in our day-to-day efficiencies and operations while also providing customers with services they need. "
