Business Celebration: Ski Butlers’ commitment to Sustainability!

We are excited to celebrate Ski Butlers and their commitment to sustainability through the Big Sky Sustainable Business Achievement, a recognition that celebrates and promotes Big Sky businesses committed to sustainability.

The program, led by Big Sky SNO, the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce, and Visit Big Sky, provides resources and support to help local businesses succeed while protecting the environment we all love. To earn the achievement, businesses go through a scoring process, earning points across sustainability categories like transportation, energy use, waste, and more.

“Committed to Our Winters”

Ski Butlers is a ski delivery service that works to deliver your ski gear to you not only as easily as possible, but also as sustainably as possible. The Big Sky team consists of 15 staff members. Their main goal is to provide an amazing ski experience, hassle-free.

For Ski Butlers, the longevity of Big Sky’s amazing winter is very important. They want to ensure that everyone gets to enjoy them, but also provide sustainable transport and minimal waste to preserve our pow.

Sustainability Action Highlights

What Ski Butlers Is Doing Differently

  1. Pasta sauce or water bottle: At the start of every season, each staff member is provided with a jar of pasta sauce that also doubles as a water bottle that can be reused throughout the year.

  2. Transportation: Because Ski Butlers transports equipment to their clients, it is important to them to transport items as sustainably as possible. They are currently working on getting a fully electric/hybrid fleet of cars that they will be able to use to transport equipment.

  3. Sourcing Supplies Locally: Shipping supplies from across the country or the sea can significantly add to transportation costs and emissions. Ski Butlers works to get 99% of its supplies sourced from Montana or states that neighbor Montana.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

"We're looking forward to contributing to sustainability to make sure that our town, home, and place that we love is available, accessible, and sustainable for our kids to use for many years”

- Vanessa at Ski Butlers

Proud Partner of POW

Ski Butlers is also proud to be a partner of POW, a group that is dedicated to protecting our winters through advocacy about climate change. They feel that education and advocacy about these matters are important not only for us but also for our future generations. "We're looking forward to contributing to sustainability to make sure that our town, home, and place that we love is available, accessible, and sustainable for our kids to use for many years,” said Vanessa at Ski Butlers.

Sustainability as a Business Advantage

Ski Butlers sees sustainability measures not just as the right thing to do, but as a long-lasting effect. With the business already working on locally sourcing their supplies, they are excited to also start their journey of getting a full fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles that will leave a lasting impact on future generations.

LOOKING AHEAD

One Area of Growth: Energy Audit

One of the benefits of participating in the Big Sky Sustainable Business Achievement program is access to expert sustainability advice. Big Sky SNO has introduced Ski Butlers to the Build Better Big Sky Energy Audit — a program that helps businesses and homes reduce their energy and save money.

Congratulations to the entire team at Ski Butlers on this well-deserved recognition. Their commitment to doing things the right way — for clients, for the community, and for the environment — is exactly what the Big Sky Sustainable Business Achievement program is all about.
